 Ultrasound, also referred to as sonography, is a medical imaging technique that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images inside the body. This procedure is non-invasive and painless, and will aid in the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases and conditions. 

• General : abdomen, breast, female pelvis, transvaginal, male pelvis/transabdominal, transrectal, and testes/scrotum
• Musculoskeletal: shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, hip, knee, ankle, foot, etc. 
• Obstetrical: dating, Nuchal Translucency (EFTs), anatomy, biophysical profile
• Small parts such as neck and thyroid, and soft tissues such as inguinal hernia and lump

Abdomen

• Nothing to eat or drink (except water) for at least 8 hours before your appointment. 

Female or Male Pelvis / Obstetrical - Dating & NT (EFTs) / KUB

• A full bladder is required for this examination. 
• Finish drinking 1 litre or 4 cups of water 1 hour prior to your appointment. DO NOT empty your bladder after you drink. 

NOTE: if your bladder is not full, your appointment MAY BE RESCHEDULED. 

Abdomen + Female or Male Pelvis

• Nothing to eat or drink for at least 8 hours before your appointment. 
• A full bladder is required for this examination. 
• Finish drinking 1 litre or 4 cups of water 1 hour prior to your appointment. DO NOT empty your bladder after you drink.

Prostate - Transrectal

• Purchase FLEET ENEMA from the pharmacy. Follow the instructions on the package and take the enema 2 hours prior to your appointment. 
• A full bladder is required for this examination. 
• Finish drinking 1 litre or 4 cups of water 1 hour prior to your appointment. DO NOT empty your bladder after you drink. 

NOTE: if preparations are not properly followed, your appointment MAY BE RESCHEDULED

Musculoskeletal, testes/scrotum, small parts and soft tissues

• No preparation required
